Description: 

The On-Track Program is designed to support students on academic probation or those identified as academically deficient. Its goal is to motivate participants, build success skills, and address common barriers to achievement. Through a blend of interactive seminars, one-on-one mentorship, and personalized engagement opportunities, students connect with campus resources and develop strategies to regain satisfactory academic progress in future semesters.

The program is facilitated primarily by peer On-Track Mentors with guidance and support from the On-Track Coordinator through the Student Success Center. Participants typically commit 12–15 hours throughout the semester, which includes attending seven large-group lunch seminars, engaging in bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with their mentor, completing up to three hours of personalized success activities, and participating in coordinated study or review sessions.

Compensation: $13.90 per hour with potential to increase with time served

Qualifications:


Academic Requirements: Candidates must be current Missouri S&T sophomore status student or higher, in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.9–3.0 or higher.

Available to commit 12-15 hours a to include seminars, one-on-ones, and program activities.

Student Mentorship: Provide individualized guidance to an assigned caseload of up to 20 On-Track participants. Support students in setting goals, developing academic recovery plans, and connecting with appropriate campus resources. 

Seminar Facilitation: Plan, lead, and assist in seven large-group lunch seminars focused on academic success topics such as study strategies, time management, motivation, and resilience. Collaborate with SSC staff to design interactive and engaging activities.

Program Engagement: Encourage consistent participation and accountability among mentees. Coordinate personalized “prescribed” activities tailored to individual student needs and track completion.

Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other mentors and SSC staff to share best practices, monitor student progress, and communicate challenges or trends observed within the program. Exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, reliability, and enthusiasm for student success when engaging with mentees, peers, and staff members.

Administrative & Reporting Duties: Maintain accurate documentation of meetings, seminar attendance, and prescribed activities. Submit required progress updates and reflections by established deadlines.

Staff Training & Professional Development: Attend staff training sessions to stay informed about SSC updates, campus initiatives, and best practices for supporting students effectively.
