Career Miner/Front Desk Position Overview:

Location: 320 W 12th Street, 304 Norwood Hall Rolla, MO 65409

Schedule: Part-Time

Summary:

The career miner role involves providing guidance on resume formatting, content, and organization, as well as general career advising. Peer Advisors can help students highlight their skills, experience, and achievements in a way that appeals to potential employers, increasing their chances of securing internships, co-op positions, and full-time employment after graduation. This position will also involve collaboration with professional staff through the career closet, headshot station, identifying weak areas, and student station bins.

Qualifications:

  • Actively enrolled, full-time Missouri S&T student
  • Co-Op/Internship Experience Preferred
  • Customer Service Experience Preferred
  • Highly organized and dependable with a strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Have previously attended a Career Fair
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Junior, Senior, and Graduate Student preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helping oversee the Career Closet, by ensuring the closet is organized, full, and communicating with staff supervisor of the closets needs.
  • Communicating any major needs of the Headshot Station and deleting pictures off the iPad once a month.
  • Assisting in training events of new student employees – this will be assigned by situation and need.
  • At the end of each Career Fair, you will go through the Student Station Bins for the Career Fair and communicate with staff supervisor what needs to be ordered.
  • Knowledge of professional staff's roles and responsibilities
  • Assist Freshman and Sophomore level students in developing resumes
  • Provide knowledge on how and where to apply for part-time jobs, internships, and co-ops
  • Help inventory and organize the Career Closet.
  • Greet all guests
  • Answer main phone, communicate basic information, transfer calls, schedule appointments.
  • Other duties as assigned
