Position Title: Dining Services Student Employee


Job Summary: The Dining Services Student Employee is responsible for performing various tasks related to the preparation, serving, and cleaning of food in a restaurant, cafeteria, or other food service setting. This position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and customer service while working in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Food Preparation:


o Assist in preparing ingredients for meals, including washing, chopping, and measuring ingredients.


o Follow instructions from chefs or managers for meal preparation.


o Operate basic kitchen equipment such as mixers, blenders, and food processors.


o Assist in food portioning and packaging for serving.



2. Food Service:


o Serve food to customers, ensuring proper portioning and presentation.


o Maintain a clean and organized food service area, including the serving line or cafeteria stations.


o Respond to customer inquiries, ensuring their food needs and dietary requirements are met.


o Handle food items following health and safety guidelines to ensure quality and safety.



3. Cleaning and Sanitation:


o Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the kitchen, dining room, and food storage areas.


o Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to sanitation standards.


o Ensure that food prep surfaces and workstations are cleaned and sanitized regularly.


o Assist in maintaining inventory and organizing food supplies.



4. Safety and Compliance:


o Follow all health, safety, and food safety guidelines, including food handling, storage, and sanitation.


o Assist in the proper disposal of waste and recyclables.


o Adhere to established safety procedures when handling kitchen equipment and tools.


5. Team Collaboration:


o Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, servers, and management to provide excellent service to customers.


o Assist with other tasks as needed to ensure efficient operation of the food service area.



Qualifications:


• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.


• Previous experience in food service or related field is a plus.


• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision.


• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.


• Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.



Working Conditions:


• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.


• May be required to work in hot, noisy, or physically demanding conditions.



Job Type: Part-time (up to 20 hours a week)



Reports To: Campus Dining Director, Executive Chef, & Dining Managers
